EXPLORE ARCHITECTURE DESIGN

"Build Spaces. Think Like an Architect."
-
Dates:3-6 August 2026
-
Highlights: Learning architecture through model making, sketching, and spatial exploration
-
Objective: Students explore how spaces are shaped by ideas, imagination, and human experience. Through sketching, model making, and creative exploration, students develop original space concepts and discover how ideas can be transformed into three-dimensional forms.
This course is for students interested in:
-
Buildings, spaces and spatial design
-
Imagining new forms and experiences
-
Sketching and model making
-
Creative and systematic problem solving
4-Day Learning Journey:
Day 1 — Exploring Space & Form
Explore how people experience spaces through observation, sketching, and creative activities. Students begin experimenting with how shapes, forms, and environments influence everyday experiences.
Students will explore:
-
Spatial observation and creative thinking
-
Basic sketching and visual communication
-
Shape, form, scale, and proportion
-
Generating ideas through creative exercises

Day 2 — Form, Structure & Model Making
Experiment with how forms and structures can be created through hands-on model making and material exploration. Students test how spaces connect, feel, and function in three dimensions.
Students will explore:
-
3D form development
-
Structure and spatial relationships
-
Materials and model-making techniques
-
Creating spaces through physical experimentation

Day 3 —Developing a Space Idea
Develop a small-scale space concept in response to a simple design brief. Through sketching, model making, and discussion, students explore how spaces can be designed for different activities and users.
Students will explore:
-
Idea development and design thinking
-
Designing for people and experiences
-
Translating ideas into three-dimensional forms
-
Refining and communicating creative ideas

Day 4 —Final Project Development & Presentation
Complete and present a final mini project that communicates a unique space idea through sketches, models, and visual presentation. Students share their creative process and outcomes through presentation and discussion.
Students will explore:
-
Final model refinement
-
Creative presentation techniques
-
Visual storytelling through design
-
Reflection, feedback, and discussion

By the end of the course, students will create:
-
Creative sketches and spatial studies
-
Physical models exploring form and structure
-
A small final project communicating an original space idea
-
A collection of sketches, models, and creative experiments suitable for portfolio development
